MONROVIA, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese senior legislator Wu Weihua has said China-Liberia ties are enjoying positive development, and China stands ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the West African nation in various areas so as to benefit peoples of the two countries.

Wu, vice-chairperson of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, said that China attaches high importance to the bilateral relations, and will seek to boost cooperation with Liberia through promoting cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative as well as implementing outcomes from the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in September last year.

Wu is on a four-day visit to Liberia that concludes on Wednesday. During his visit, he has met with the Acting Chair of the Cabinet and Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Nathaniel F. McGill, Speaker of the House of Representatives Bhofal Chambers, and President Pro Tempore of the Senate Albert Tugbe Chie.

Liberia highly commended China's huge achievements over the past 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, and expressed gratitude to China's support and assistance to Liberia's socio-economic development. Liberia further reiterated that it adheres to the one-China policy, and supports China's stance on issues related to China's Taiwan and Hong Kong regions, hoping to gain more benefits from China's development through mutually beneficial cooperation with win-win results.
